Welcome!
Welcome to the online home of the Appalachian Inkling. I am delighted to welcome you here and look forward to sharing with you thoughts and insights that, I hope, will perhaps serve to challenge and encourage. Most of all, I hope what you find here will inspire you to wonder and seek your own insights.
On this site, you will find some practical tools: a bibliography of my works, links to resources, descriptions of presentations, and contact information if you’d like to discuss a project or line up a program in person or online.
You’ll also find this blog. Often, what I share here will be related to writing projects, but it may just as likely be an observation from something I have experienced, my thoughts about a book or film, or my ideas about topics that often draw my attention. Those topics may range from education, history, and writing to bees, plants, and the seasons. In short, the ramblings here will be linked to my worldview as an Appalachian and a student and admirer of the Inklings.
If you are unfamiliar with the place and people of Appalachia, fear not, and read on for an introduction to this strange and storied land I call home. I am eager to be your guide.
Likewise, read on for more information if you have not yet found yourself swept up into the brilliant literary whirlwind of the Inklings, a group of writers, thinkers, and believers whose words and fellowship continue to resonate long after they lived, wrote, and enjoyed a pint together in Oxford. I look forward to introducing you to these remarkable authors, particularly C.S. Lewis, whose imagination has shaped mine, and that of countless others.
Perhaps you are already acquainted with Appalachia, or the Inklings, or both. If so, I seek your thoughts, comments, and fellowship. Thank you for joining me here, and I pray you will be blessed with what you discover.
